Triumph of the Yuppies

Though I didn’t live in the metro areas where the young urban professionals (yuppies) emigrated – I did embrace the lifestyle; from the shoulder pads on my business suit, to the Sharper Image catalog and high heels tucked into my briefcase, and my quest to find the latest kitchen gadget or exercise video. I was a Yuppie, and I love this book! Tom McGrath takes an entertaining, nostalgic look back at the culture, economics, politics, and personalities that defined the money and success ethos of the 1980s. Perhaps most stunning are the parallels to this decade; the return to supply side economics, political division, and religious turbulence that dominate our society today. This is an enlightening read for Baby Boomers who lived through this era, and anyone with an interest in a recent period of American history.
