The Board and Leadership of the Library
James V. Brown’s wishes included how the library should be governed, a plan that is still followed to this day. Management of the library would be under the control of a nine-member board of trustees consisting of: the Mayor of Williamsport; the Rector of Christ Episcopal Church (where Brown was a member), the Superintendent of Williamsport Schools, a representative of Williamsport City Council, and five other representatives of Williamsport or nearby vicinity.

The James V. Brown Library Board of Trustees meet at 12 noon on the third Thursday of each month in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch Children’s Wing. There typically is no meeting in August. The meeting will be hybrid, both in person at the Library and online through Zoom.
