Dave’s incredibly popular “The Last Thing He Told Me” was about a husband/wife situation. In “The Night We Lost Him,” she examines the relationship between a father and his children. Nora is upset over the recent death of her father, which gets complicated when her half-brother Sam reaches out and thinks their father’s death may have been suspicious. The more Nora and Sam dig into their father’s past, the more they realize they didn’t know about him. It really isn’t a mystery or thriller, it’s more of a slow-burn family drama. I wasn’t surprised by the ending and felt the “epic love story” was a little too on the nose.
