This debut novel by Shelby Van Pelt stretches the imagination a bit with a touch of whimsy, fantasy, romance and a mystery and I was Team Octopus all the way! Marcellus, the elderly giant Pacific octopus, narrates some of the book and I looked forward to his perspectives on life. Tova, the main character, cleans the aquarium where Marcellus lives. She is an older woman who is kind, lonely and still grieving the losses in her life but she enjoys her work and talking to the creatures she respects. Enjoy reading the book before watching the new Netflix movie starring Sally Field as Tova.
