James V. Brown Library Welcomes Andrew Henley as Assistant Director

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The James V. Brown Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Henley, MLIS, as its new Assistant Director. In this role, Henley will oversee the Library’s public service and outreach efforts, helping to strengthen connections with the community while enhancing the overall patron experience.

Henley brings a strong background in library leadership, fundraising, and organizational management. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of the New Castle Public Library. During his tenure, he led development operations and fundraising initiatives to expand both public and philanthropic support for the organization, successfully increasing the organization’s endowment 136% over three years.

In addition, Henley served as Interim Director of the Community Library of the Shenango Valley from September 2025 through March 2026 and previously held the role of Library Director at the F.D. Campbell Memorial Library. Across each of these roles, he has focused on building sustainable operations, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding access to library services.

Henley holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s degree in history from Westminster College. He remains actively engaged with his alma mater as Chairman of the History Alumni Advisory Council and was recognized as a Notable Alumnus in 2021.

“Great leadership in libraries isn’t just about managing resources. It’s about strengthening community, listening with purpose, and aligning every decision with a shared mission to inspire today and shape tomorrow. Andrew’s experience in these

areas will help the Library continue to meet the moment,” said Amy C. Resh, Chief Executive Officer & Director of the James V. Brown Library.

Henley also shared his enthusiasm for joining the James V. Brown Library team. “I’m excited to work alongside an innovative and inspiring team! The work that our public libraries do for our communities is an excellent example of leadership and engagement at work. Williamsport and the greater community can definitely benefit from the library being that change agent.”

Beyond his professional work, Henley enjoys history and genealogical research, in which he has traveled to trace his ancestry from shores of Sweden to the gold fields of Australia.

In this position, Henley will play a key role in advancing the Library’s community-facing services, supporting staff across public service areas, and helping to expand outreach efforts throughout Lycoming County.
