Girl in Pieces

Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow

Charlie Davis is the girl in pieces, struggling with mental illness and cutting. Her body is full of scars and she’s been let down by everyone around her. When the bill comes due for the treatment center, her mother refuses to pay, so she is discharged and sent on her way. She travels to Arizona, where a friend lets her stay at his apartment until she can get a job and get on her feet. Charlie finds a job washing dishes at a coffee shop and eventually makes friends. But when a bad influence named Riley comes along, Charlie struggles to stay in recovery and learn from her previous mistakes. This is a must-read for all parents of teen girls; it is heartbreaking and sad, but an accurate reflection of growing up and the pressures faced by young girls.
