I was told that this book was even better than Palacio’s breakout hit, Wonder, so I had to pick up a copy. Wonder fans beware, this is a completely different story – it’s a coming-of-age Western set before the Civil War in which the main character, 12-year-old Silas sets off to find his father with the help of a horse and his ghost friends. This is a powerful tale of family, friendship, kindness and courage and I recommend it for adults as well as its intended teen audience.
