This is a psychological mystery in which Andrea Cooper learns that her mother, Laura, is not the average, middle-class, PTA mom she thought she knew. It turns out, Laura had a past, and once that is exposed, both mother and daughter are in serious danger. There’s not much I can say without giving spoilers, but I definitely recommend reading this before watching the Netflix series, which is pretty true to the storyline.
