Love and Other Words

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

While I’m late to the party with this particular book, I’ve enjoyed multiple of the duo authors’ works. Like their other books, this one pulled at my heartstrings! Macy is a preteen struggling with her mom’s death, to help with her grieving process her dad buys a cabin. Macy immediately befriends the nerdy boy next door who also enjoys reading in solitude. Over time, the friendship between the two blossoms – I loved the connection between the two teens as they grew up together. However, when feelings change into something deeper the two teens struggle to find balance. This story gives you flashes of the past, while the characters are also struggling with their current lives and meeting again after 11 years. This story is all about heartbreak, the healing process, and the different levels of love.
