Library to partner with BLaST IU 17 for ReMake Learning programs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., in partnership with BLaST IU 17, will host hands-on learning through pre-selected themes of Arts, Maker, Outdoor Learning, Science, Technology, and Youth Voice from May 2-22.

 

Selected programs include:

     May 2 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Teen Advisory Group. Work together with staff to create photo ops, brainstorm teen programs, create cards for local organizations, etc.

     May 9 from 2- 3 p.m. – Ridiculous Nicholas’ Super Science Show! Nick will combine his background in biology with juggling, magic, and stand-up comedy.

     May 9 from 5-6 p.m. – Block Party.

     May 10 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Tween Hangout.

     May 11 from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – The Kids Safe Symposium. In partnership with State Rep. Jamie Flick and the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office, the library will host a bike safety training and bike rodeo as well as a prize giveaway. Additional partners will be there providing safety and health resources.

     May 18 from 9-11 a.m. – Bird Walk at Skyline Drive with the Audubon Society. Join us at Skyline Drive to learn how to identify birds by sight and sound.

     May 21 from 5-6 p.m. – Pottery Painting with Centered Earth Art Studio. Participants will be able to paint a piece of pottery. Centered Earth will take the items back to the studio to fire in the kiln and return them to the Library for pick-up.

Five out of the seven events received funding from the partnership between BLaST IU and Remake Learning.

These programs support the PA Forward state initiative by providing social and civic literacy opportunities for learning and highlighting the transformative nature of public libraries within a community. The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
