This is an amazing middle-grade book about censorship and intolerance that everyone should read. Mac opens a copy of his classroom text to find that some words are blacked out. So he gets a new copy from the bookstore and realizes someone is trying to keep the class from reading the whole story, but why? When he takes his concern to his sixth-grade teacher and principal, he isn’t taken seriously. So, Mac and his friends launch a campaign to stop the censorship and show that even if it’s hard, the truth is worth fighting for. I loved this book.
Dana, I agree 100% with your review of The Attack of the Black Rectangles. Would also recommend to read Jane Yolen’s The Devil’s Arithmetic along with it to enhance the context,
Can’t wait to read this!
