I love a good psychological suspense novel and this was one with a twist. A woman is found hiding in a secret room after a terrible crime. No one knows her age, her name or where she comes from – she isn’t a missing person and her DNA doesn’t match anyone. Six years later the girl is living in a children’s home and demands the right to be released as an adult. Now, forensic psychologist Cyrus Haven must determine if she is ready. But the girl has a secret gift: she can tell when someone is lying, and no one around her is telling the truth. Cyrus begins investigating a second case, which involves the murder of a teen that might be connected to the girl in his other case. Lots of trauma and trigger warnings, but a satisfying read for those who love red herrings and plot twists.
