This is the second book by Katsu I’ve read and this one is a supernatural take on the Donner party as they trek to the West in 1846. While on the difficult journey to California, a young boy disappears and is found days later – almost as if something had eaten the flesh right off the bone. The terror intensifies as the party starts losing members to this hunger that makes people crave flesh. Are the settlers being stalked? Or is the evil coming from within the party?
