In the sequel to House of Earth and Blood, Maas takes us back to the Crescent City with her snarky, flawed, and relatable characters. I loved diving back into this world and while I enjoyed every minute of it – it did take me a while to remember what happened in the first book, so if you do read it maybe refresh your memory. Bryce and Hunt are trying to get back to their somewhat normal lives after they saved Crescent City. However, relaxing is not in their futures. The Asteri have left them alone (so far), but rebels are trying to start a war and Bryce, Hunt and their friends get caught in the middle. This means they have to choose which side they want to be on and staying quiet isn’t Bryce’s cup of tea. Maas always has something up her sleeve and the last 100 pages had me on my toes. If you haven’t read Maas other series, I suggest you do. You won’t be disappointed by the amazing world building, flawed and relatable characters, and the plot twists that have you wanting the next book!!
