This book had a recent mention in a New York Times article about, of all things, the sale of heart-shaped bathtubs at the Cove Haven/Poconos Palace resort. No, I’ve never been, but the history of Pennsylvania’s Honeymoon Paradise always intrigued me, so I had to read this book. Authors and influencers Margaret and Corey Bienert lovingly document the history of imaginative, creative, kitschy hotels throughout the US and abroad. They take you with them on their adventures to theme hotels featuring jungle rooms, castles, igloos, and spaceships; sleeping in vintage cars, clam shells, tree houses, and wagon trains. The photographs are stunning, I just wish they had published more. After reading, I checked out their Internet pages to further appreciate their research, and I’d love to road trip across the country with this couple to find more of these hidden gems.
