I REALLY wanted to love this book, since it was named a Reese’s Book Club Pick. But, I found that it didn’t hold up in the end, with its “whodunit” wrapped up neatly with a bow. Ellery comes to a fancy Big Sur resort on what was supposed to be her 20th anniversary. But her husband left her for another woman and they had already paid for the expensive trip. The resort is also hosting a wedding and on her first night there, Ellery finds the groom’s body in the pool. Then another guest dies and a big storm prevents anyone from getting in or out of the resort. So, who killed whom in this locked-room mystery? And why? I really enjoyed Ellery as an amateur detective working with other guests, but the ending was a bit disappointing.
