I joined an online book club that wants to read horror and this was the first pick. I had not read this book in many years and was glad to revisit this from the King of Horror.  This is more a psychological terror, with some gore thrown in for good measure, as suburban housewife Jessie is engaged in her husband’s erotic game, which requires her to be chained to the bed. When Gerald has a heart attack and dies, Jessie has to find it within herself to escape and stay alive against some incredulous odds. The book mainly is about Jessie’s shock as she tries to figure out her situation, which forces her to remember a traumatic childhood.
