I was excited to start diving into books by this year’s Library Gala featured author, Brendan Slocumb. This is his first book, which seems like a simple violin heist, but all is not as it seems. Ray the violinist is a black man and a concert violinist who is in possession of a family heirloom: a rare Stradivarius. As he is gearing up for a prestigious international competition, his violin is stolen. And the more the investigators learn, it’s not such an open and shut case. This is a great read if you are a music lover and mystery lover!
