The third installment in The Housemaid series begins with Millie and Enzo buying a new home. They have two young children, Nico and Ada, and the neighborhood seems quiet. The next-door neighbors seem to be hiding something. As Enzo takes on projects at the neighbors’ home and garden, Millie begins to suspect an affair. When the neighbor’s husband is found murdered, Enzo is the primary suspect. Lots of red herrings and twists and turns, but ultimately this felt like a stretch to keep The Housemaid series afloat. Parts of the story felt forced and the plot twists weren’t as twisty as in her previous two books in this series.
