While this book is considered a standalone, I recommend you read “The Family Upstairs” to get background information on these characters. Told in multiple perspectives, this thrilling and suspenseful novel will keep you guessing. The story starts off with a Detective learning that remains washed ashore are connected to a cold case from over thirty years ago. Another character Rachel tells her story about her relationship with her husband, Michael who was just found murdered. Meanwhile, Lucy Lamb and her children struggle to settle in with her brother Henry – who hates having guests in his home and is constantly keeping readers on their toes.  All of these characters and more are racing to find answers about their past and struggling to keep their identities and secrets hidden.
