This dystopian fantasy is set in London in 2059, where clairvoyants live hiding in plain sight and are both hunted and persecuted. Our protagonist, Paige Mahoney, is captured and sent to a secret city where she has to learn to survive. I love this novel’s intelligent world building, rich character development, and engaging (but not rushed) pace. The Bone Season is a series starter that is fresh enough to appeal to a seasoned fantasy reader, yet accessible for someone new to the genre. There is also plenty of subplot to interest romantasy readers who appreciate a slow burn.
