Murderbot Diaries (the complete series of 7 books) by Martha Wells

This is my first time reading Martha Wells. I am pleasantly surprised by this series. I found myself liking Murderbot more and more as I read through the stories. What I really enjoyed was each story was independent on its own, but included all of the same characters. Murderbot is a Rogue SecUnit (mostly robot with human parts) who hacked his governor so he could “live” his life without a human telling him what to do. Throughout the series he reveals that he has emotions, which is not acceptable in the bot/construct world. He struggles with his feelings and expresses it numerous times throughout the series. Murderbot also has a great sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud and also on the edge of my seat when the action scenes started. It was difficult to put down. Luckily each story is relatively short and I could binge read one a day. I recommend this series to everyone, not just sci-fi enthusiasts.
