In this book, Silverman provides the other half of the Thanksgiving story, namely the Wampanoag Indians. These Native people had a long history in New England before the Pilgrims arrived, and still live on in the Plymouth and Cape Cod area.

Although they lacked a written language before Colonial times, there is now quite a bit of archaeological evidence to describe their complex culture – current tribal folk have even used English written descriptions of the Wampanoag to revive it into a contemporary tongue. I grew up in their homeland, and was fascinated to learn their history.
