cover of The Sentence by Louise Erdrich

So many friends recommended this as a best book of 2021, and I can see why. The narrator, Tookie, works in a bookstore that is haunted by the ghost of a former customer, all while she deals with living in Minneapolis during the BLM protests and the beginning of the COVID pandemic. There’s not much I can say about this book without spoiling it other than it is an engaging read about the Native American identity; a love of books and bookstores; the people we surround ourselves with as family; and getting through difficult times.
