Book Cover of The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths

When Peggy Smith, 90 years old, dies sitting in her armchair by the window looking out to the sea, it certainly appears to be a simple case of heart failure in old age. But the caregiver who discovers her, Natalka, her neighbor Edwin, and seaside coffee shack owner Benjamin, all have questions about how the previously healthy Peggy died. When clearing out Peggy’s flat, Natalka finds a trove of crime novels from contemporary authors with dedications to Peggy for her help, and a business card touting her as a murder consultant. Natalka brings her suspicions to DS Harbinder Kaur who is initially skeptical. But as a best-selling author with whom Peggy had a close relationship is murdered in his nearby home, Kaur begins to take the suspicions seriously. Pursuing their own line of investigation, the trio head off to Aberdeen to a literary festival where more is revealed, another writer is murdered, and love blooms. This is a fun romp, and a great listen.
