Nina works in a bookstore and lives alone in an artsy enclave in Los Angeles with her cat, Phil. She is a voracious reader, she runs several book clubs for the store, and she is a fierce bar trivia competitor. She is fatherless, she thinks, but the death of a wealthy lawyer reveals that she has been part of a large and complex family, and throws her life into more chaos than she prefers. She also finds herself attracted to the captain of a competing trivia team; the attraction is mutual, causing even more uncertainty in her life. This is a charming, amusing, and uplifting tale.
