Milk Fed by Melissa Broder Book Cover

This story touches on heavy subject matter with love, comedy, and compassion. The underlying themes of the story circle around subject matter such as LGBTQ+ relationships, mother-daughter relationships, religion, body issues, mental health and eating disorders. Rachel is a 24-year-old woman working in Los Angeles. While attempting to develop healthy eating habits and setting boundaries with her mother, Rachel meets her complete opposite in a woman named Miriam. Both women experience cravings that challenge their world views. As I followed Rachel on her journey of self-discovery I became her cheerleader. Loving yourself and feeling comfortable in your own body are not always easy. I will warn you though, don’t get hung up on a happy ending. This story isn’t about the end. It is about the journey itself, and what we learn about Rachel and ourselves along the way.
