As one who enjoys both reading and watching fantasy, it’s interesting to compare book adaptations. The best, like Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson’s interpretations, bring the story to life even at the cost of some of the richness of the books. I keep hoping Disney will continue filming the Narnia series, although the director commented that some don’t have very much plot or action.

But I’ve never seen a decent adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune series, or Ursula LeGuin’s Tales of Earthsea. But that doesn’t stop me from hoping for an adaption of Robin McKinley’s Damaria from The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown.
