In celebration of this year’s summer reading theme, “Build a Better World,” the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will host two walking tours of downtown Williamsport.

Tour guide Susan Henninger Kelly will offer the same tour twice: from 10-11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 20, and from 6-7:15 p.m. Monday, August 14. Registered participants will meet at the Welch Wing entrance and the tour will travel along Fourth and Third Streets as Kelly shares the history of the buildings and the people of Williamsport.

Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

The Brown Library is part of a national “Libraries Transform” effort to increase awareness of the changing role of libraries and the ways in which libraries are transforming to meet the information needs of their users.

Registration is required and may be made at calendar.jvbrown.edu or by calling 570-326-0536.

The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
