Part of raising a happy, healthy, and independent kid these days is helping them learn how to be money-savvy, but talking about money and other financial topics can be hard, especially with children. As a parent, you may be wondering where to start, what to say, and when to say it.

To help, Financial Advisor Jason Hurwitz will provide the workshop, “Raising Money-Savvy Kids,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 5 at the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St.

Participants will learn to help your children earn, save, spend, and give responsibly, and walk away better prepared to prepare them for a lifetime of financial success.

Hurwitz, a Williamsport native, is a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley; more importantly, though, he’s also the proud father of a 2.5-year old son and a newborn daughter. He is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of his clients and in our community, and strives every day to provide his clients with the finest financial thinking, products, and execution to help them meet their needs and achieve their goals.

By combining the business and financial acumen he honed while earning his Master of Business Administration degree with Morgan Stanley’s industry-leading resources, Hurwitz can offer his clients personalized advice, objective guidance, and a sincere dedication to their success, all of which is built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust.

The library is a partner in PA Forward, a statewide initiative to promote literacy across the state. Financial literacy is one of the five pillars of PA Forward, which means the library offers financial literacy programming so Pennsylvania residents can contribute to the economic vitality of the community and state.

The program will be presented in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch Children’s Wing. Registration is suggested, but not required. Visit to register or call 570-326-0536.

The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at
