The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is kicking off its “Build a Better World” summer reading theme with a Non-Profits in Your Neighborhood program featuring local community service organizations at 6 p.m. Monday, June 12.
Most of us have heard of The United Way, Central PA Food Bank, American Rescue Workers, YWCA and West House – but do we really know what they do? This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from each one about how they work directly in our community. Questions will be collected at the beginning of the program to keep the discussion moving. We will all learn more about the needs of those in Williamsport. as well as the wonderful work being done right here, to Build a Better World – and a better Williamsport. Please join us.
This program is one of the many ways Pennsylvania public libraries support the PA Forward Initiative through providing social and civic literacy opportunities for learning. Libraries are community centers of information, technology and learning that will fuel educational and economic opportunity for all of our citizens.
The program will be presented in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch Children’s Wing. Registration is suggested, but not required. Visit calendar.jvbrown.edu to register or call 570-326-0536.
The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
