Having an informative website (www.jvbrown.edu) is just one way that the James V. Brown Library staff lets the public know what’s happening. The library also is active on many forms of social media – all to bring book news, library information and, of course, silly memes to the public.
Do you follow the James V. Brown Library and its Connect Williamsport community calendar on Facebook and Twitter? “Like” the pages at www.facebook.com/JVBrownLibrary and www.facebook.com/ConnectWilliamsport to learn more about upcoming events and our occasional contests to win shirts, coffee mugs and more!
Facebook not your thing? We also have an active presence on Instagram at @JVBL1907 that highlights our love of books, authors and literary quotations.
Links to our social sites are on the home page too, as well as a place to sign up for our weekly email newsletter, “This Week at the Brown Library.” Connect with us by subscribing to our e-news and receive advance notice of programming events and registration dates.
“Social media helps us raise the profile of the site, find new users and start a dialogue with our fans,” said Robin Glossner, director of development, marketing and programming at the library.
In addition, the Connect Williamsport team provides content about community events on Facebook and Twitter at https://www.facebook.com/ConnectWilliamsport and @ConnectWport.
The Brown Library is part of a national “Libraries Transform” effort to increase awareness of the changing role of libraries and the ways in which libraries are transforming to meet the information needs of their users.
The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
