This is the story of Susannah Cahalan, a 24-year-old New York Post reporter suffering from various symptoms, including psychotic outbursts, numbness, mood swings, seizures and hallucinations, which came about suddenly.
Many times she was misdiagnosed and treatments had failed, though her family did not give up the search for answers. I don’t want to give away the ending, but it is miraculous and fascinating! I am most impressed with how a story like this provides hope. I often wonder how many times drugs are prescribed that do NOT touch the real issue a person may be suffering from.
This book has also recently been released as a movie on Netflix. The book provides far more details, but the movie is also very well done!
