Frank is the 9-year-old only child of reclusive writer Mimi Banning, living in Los Angeles. She’s broke, and must deliver the manuscript of her next book, and soon, to avoid total financial disaster. Her New York publisher sends her an assistant, Alice, whose job is to do everything else so Mimi can write. Frank talks and dresses like a 1930s movie star, and is prone to drop flat to the floor when over-stimulated. This is a funny, warm story about family, the artistic process and love of many kinds.
