This book may be triggering for some. From the first few pages, the brutal rape of teen Jenny Kramer is described. Hours after the attack, she is given a controversial medical drug to erase her memory of the violent assault. But Jenny struggles with her recovery as her body heals but her mind doesn’t understand what happened. After a suicide attempt, she is sent to local psychiatrist Dr. Alan Forrester, who also happens to be the book’s narrator. There is an interesting twist about halfway through that will make Dr. Forrester seem like he’s also part of the story, but this is an interesting psychological thriller about memory, trauma and healing. This would make a great book club pick.
