Antonia Vega is a recently retired professor of English literature in a Vermont college town. When her husband dies suddenly, she is left adrift, wondering who she is in the world. Then her beloved sister disappears on the way to her Antonia’s birthday celebration. At the same time, Antonia finds herself getting involved in the life of an immigrant farmworker in her community.
