Are you tired of overly sentimental Amish fiction? Linda Byler, herself Amish, writes a wrinkles and all story about a mother’s helper who sees it all from dirty kitchens to unhelpful dads and undisciplined kids and is giving up on ever finding love.

She falls for the widower whose house she’s been cleaning, but finds her step-kids still angry and her husband still grieving. She never quite loses her faith and it sort of works out, but if you want an unvarnished picture of Amish life, try this book.
