Library’s Garden Sprouts group learns about butterflies, plants

butterfly-iconLocal horticulturist Barbara Gallagher recently visited the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., for the Preschool Garden Sprouts program.

While there, Gallagher read the book, “Waiting for Wings,” by Lois Ehlert and described how caterpillars become butterflies. She also assisted the group with butterfly crafts in the library’s garden and helped transform the library’s youth services staff member Miss Nina into a butterfly.

This science-related program highlights the Summer Reading theme of “Fizz, Boom, READ!” and is one way the library opens new doors to lifelong learning and champions the love of reading for children of all ages.
