Only a handful of tickets remain for the James V. Brown Library’s 12th annual Author Gala, which will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Williamsport Country Club.

This year’s featured author is New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Weiner. She has written more than 10 books, including the popular “Good In Bed” and “In Her Shoes,” which was made into a movie starring Cameron Diaz and Shirley MacLaine. Her latest novel, “All Fall Down,” was published June 17 and quickly moved to the New York Times Bestselling List.

“Once we booked Jennifer Weiner as our featured author, her books started flying off the shelves,” said Robin Glossner, development director at the library. “We decided to start selling tickets as soon as it was announced because there was so much interest in seeing Weiner.”

Glossner said that more than half of the tickets were sold before invitations were mailed last month. She encourages anyone who wants to attend to purchase tickets now, before they are sold out.

“Last year was our first year for a sold-out event with Lisa Scottoline, so I think our gala attendees have come to realize that this is a fun, exciting night,” Glossner said. “It’s a night full of fun and laughter – all for a great cause.”

Tickets are $75 per person and all funds raised benefit the library and its mission to champion the love of reading and open new doors to lifelong learning. This is the library’s main fundraiser each year and since its inception, the gala has raised more than $150,000 to support the library.

A few table sponsorships are still available at $1,000 each for a table of eight. Those who would like to sponsor a table may call Glossner at 570-326-0536, ext. 135. Table sponsors are invited to attend a private cocktail meet-and-greet with Weiner prior to the event.
