This was the first-place entry in the Arts, Music and Entertainment category submitted by Carla Fisher in the 2013 Connect Williamsport photo contest.

In celebration of the James V. Brown Library’s year-long “Geek the Library” campaign, amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter a photography contest for a chance to have their photo featured on the Connect Williamsport community calendar homepage at www.connectwilliamsport.com.

To geek means to love, to enjoy, to celebrate, or to have an intense passion for.

The judges will select one winner and one honorable mention in each category, according to Dana Brigandi, media coordinator for the James V. Brown Library. The winners in each category will win a $25 Amazon gift card and have their photo used on the sliders on the Connect Williamsport homepage. The photos may also be used in other Connect Williamsport marketing materials.

Winners and honorable mentions will be displayed at the First Friday celebration at the James V. Brown Library in September.

“ConnectWilliamsport.com is a great way to find events that you geek,” said Brigandi. “The Connect Williamsport community calendar highlights the best events in the Williamsport area. You’re sure to find something you geek on our site.”

“We have many talented photographers in this area and this is a great way to highlight their work,” said Robin Glossner, library development director. “There are so many summer events in our area, everyone can find something that they geek.”

To enter, email entries in .jpg format to rglossner@jvbrown.edu. The size should be 520-by-260 for on-screen display and judging. The winner also will need to submit an image that can be printed at 8-by-10-inches with no loss of detail. The library will print and frame the images for display.

One photo per category may be submitted per person. All emailed entries should include complete contact information and information about where the photograph was taken. Judges will be announced in July.

Contest entries will be accepted until Aug. 1 and the winners will be announced Aug. 22. To view last year’s winning entries, visit www.connectwilliamsport.com.
