Overdrive Walk in Lab
One-on-one assistance is available to users of the eBranch2Go Overdrive service on Thursdays from 2:30pm to 3:30pm and on Saturdays from 12 to 2pm . Bring your library card, your portable device and connecting cables to practice checking out, downloading and transferring books to your portable device under the supervision of trained staff. Held in the Bibliotopia area in the Vintage Library Basement at the Library. No registration is needed.
MARKET STREET MATINEES PRESENTS:
Modern Love
Market Street Matinees at the James V. Brown Library celebrates romance in February with four tales guaranteed to warm your heart. Enjoy classic comedy every Tuesday at 2:00 pm in February.
Matinees are free and open to the public and show in the Lowry Theatre on the third floor of the Welch Wing. Bring a lunch or pick up snacks from our vending machines. Rider Park: An area preserved for people to enjoy nature
Tom Schmick, Rider Park Manager, will show us the natural beauty of Rider Park as he discusses its history, geography, recreational activities, the trail system, facilities and improvements. Fred Stiner of Lycoming Audubon Society will discuss the progress and success of the Park’s bluebird trail.
Door prizes: a Rider Park t-shirt and hat.In 2012, the Lycoming Audubon Society will offer its monthly programs at the Brown Library. These are free and open to the public, with no registration required. The Lycoming College English Society will hold book discussions for teens in grades 7 to 12. A copy of the book will be provided. It is requested that you attend all sessions, but it is not required. First Friday – Friends of the Library Book Review Luncheon
Dr. Keith N. Shenberger, will share his thoughts about A Long, Long Way by Sebastian Barry. It is the story of a young Irish man who fought in the trenches for the British in WWI. 12:30 until 1:00 for the program alone. First Friday – Performance by Stained Grass WindowFirst Friday in March features the return of bluegrass with Stained Grass Window.
Celebrating their 19th year performing, Stained Grass Window has performed at numerous festivals and events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as recording a number of CDs. This locally-based bluegrass group draws its music from a wide variety of sources including traditional bluegrass, gospel, jazz, and other genres. Bringing solid musicianship, energy and light-hearted humor to the stage, Stained Grass Window’s goal is to offer a good time while the audience sits back and enjoys the show.
Stained Grass Window will be performing in the Rotunda Room, just inside the front vestibule of the Fourth Street entrance, easily accessible from the street.
