book-discussionThe Adult Summer Reading book discussion is set to start June 11. This year’s adult summer reading theme is “Literary Elements.” The theme inspired the selection of titles featuring three fascinating works of non-fiction focused of often bizarre aspects of science.

The titles and dates are:

  • The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements by Sam Kean – June 11
  • The Poisoner’s Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York by Deborah Blum – July 9
  • The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester – August 13

Meeting times will be the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch Family Wing. Discussions begin with the first book on June 11.
